Sadly, the entire self storage facility was destroyed by fire on New Year's Eve with up to 800 customers losing their entire contents. Whilst having insurance may soften the blow from a monetary viewpoint, it cannot replace the many personal items and family heirlooms which have been lost and the accompanying memories associated with those items. The claims will run into million of pounds and one source has estimated this to be as high as £ 6 million.
Store and Insure are still determining how many of their customers had goods stored at the facility but we have already spoken to our Insurers, being the Royal & Sun Alliance Plc, who have stated any legitimate claim will be paid out within 7 working days from date of notification - no argument, no quibble and no hiding behind the small print.
